## The Information Advantage That Exists
One of the most consistent and legally accessible edges in player prop betting comes from lineup confirmation timing. When confirmed lineups are released (typically 60–90 minutes before kick-off), they significantly update player prop probabilities. Markets take time to reprice fully.
## The Pre-Announcement Window
Before lineup confirmation:
- Starting probability: estimated from rotation history, fitness signals, injury reports
- The bookmaker's player prop price includes this uncertainty
After lineup confirmation:
- Starting probability: 100% (confirmed starter) or 0% (confirmed not starting)
- The prop price should reprice immediately and significantly
In practice, repricing takes 5–30 minutes on soft books. During this window, confirmed starters' prop prices may still reflect pre-confirmation uncertainty — creating potential value on confirmed starters.
## The Reverse: Confirmed Non-Starter
If a player listed at 2.50 (ATGS, 40% implied) is confirmed as not starting:
- Their true probability drops to near 0 (substitute who scores is much rarer)
- If the soft book has not updated the price, they are temporarily overpriced — a lay opportunity on the exchange
## The Workflow
1. Set up notifications for official lineup releases in your target leagues
2. Immediately run your model with confirmed lineup inputs
3. Compare to current soft book prices
4. Act within 5 minutes of lineup release on any significant discrepancy
## Systematic Lineup Edge Research
Track, for every player prop bet:
- Was the bet placed pre-lineup or post-lineup confirmation?
- What was the CLV?
If post-lineup bets have significantly higher CLV than pre-lineup bets, the confirmation edge is real and systematically valuable.
