## The Decision Point
Every bet has a placement moment — the point at which you enter the stake and confirm the bet. This moment is the intervention point for emotional regulation.
## The 60-Second Pre-Bet Checklist
Before confirming any bet above your minimum threshold:
**1. Emotional state check (10 seconds):**
"On a scale of 1–5, how calm and analytical am I feeling right now?" If below 3: pause, apply regulation technique, recheck.
**2. Process validation (20 seconds):**
"Did I analyse this bet before looking at the price? Is this within my defined market scope? Is the stake within my pre-calculated range?" If any answer is no: stop.
**3. Motivation check (10 seconds):**
"Am I placing this bet because the model says there is value, or because I want to bet?" If the latter: stop.
**4. Last-look price check (10 seconds):**
"Is the price still at or above where my analysis identified value? Has significant line movement occurred since my analysis?" If the price has moved significantly against you: reassess.
**5. Confirm (10 seconds):**
If all checks pass: place the bet at the calculated stake.
## Making the Checklist Automatic
Initially, run the checklist explicitly, step by step. After 100 bets, it becomes semi-automatic: a brief internal scan that takes less than 60 seconds. After 500 bets, it becomes the natural preparation before every bet — not felt as a checklist but as the normal way of placing a bet.
## The Override Record
Any time you override the checklist (place a bet that fails one of the five checks), log the reason. Review these logs monthly. If override frequency is increasing: investigate why the process is being bypassed.
