## What is a tiebreak?
When a set reaches 6-6, most formats use a tiebreak rather than continuing indefinitely. The tiebreak is played to 7 points, win by 2.
## How the tiebreak is served
The player due to serve next serves the first point. After that, each player alternates serving every two points. Players change ends every 6 points.
## Final set tiebreak variations by Grand Slam
- **Australian Open** — standard tiebreak at 6-6 in all sets
- **French Open** — super-tiebreak (first to 10, win by 2) at 6-6 in the final set
- **Wimbledon** — standard tiebreak, but final set only once it reaches 12-12
- **US Open** — standard tiebreak at 6-6 in all sets
These differences affect match duration, physical demands, and late-match probability significantly.
